There have been many moments on my journey learning Spanish when I felt stuck. Some grammar rules felt impossible, I couldn’t follow conversations, and I questioned whether I’d ever get it. In those moments, I had to remind myself why I started in the first place.
I wanted to travel the world. I wanted to speak to locals in Colombia, not just rely on English. I wanted to order food in Mexico with confidence. I’ve been lucky enough to do all of these things—but I didn’t stop there.
Reaching your first goal doesn’t mean the journey is over. It means it’s time to set a new one. Learning a language is never just about vocabulary or grammar—it’s about connection, growth, and expanding your world. When things get tough, it’s your why that pulls you forward. Your reason for learning has to be stronger than your excuses.
So, what’s your why? Why did you start learning Spanish? Whatever your reason is, write it down. Say it out loud. Let it drive you every day you study, listen, and speak—even when it’s hard.
